As a family-owned business and major employer, Plastek UK is proud to remain well-connected with our local community and to participate in a wide range of activities that support local people and organisations.

Recently, through our existing networking with other Mansfield and Ashfield business leaders, we became aware of a fabulous initiative that had been driven by the good people at Patchills Pantry – a very popular café and meeting place at the heart of the Patchills retirement community.

During the Covid 19 pandemic, when it was difficult or impossible for local residents to come to the café, Patchills Pantry instigated a ‘Meals on Wheels’ service and began delivering substantial, home-made two-course meals to their delighted customers at just £6.50 per meal.

A local business connection, entrepreneur Faye Finaro, initially arranged to donate £45 to provide a week of meals for a local pensioner and, hearing of this, Plastek immediately chose to support this excellent initiative with a donation of £450 to extend the scheme to 10 more recipients.

Building on this momentum, and in a heart-warming demonstration of the generosity of local businesses and individuals, Patchills Pantry soon had sufficient donations to deliver healthy, home-cooked meals to no less than 450 people throughout the harsh weather of January.

Plastek UK would like to congratulate everyone involved for this resounding success. Bon appetit!
