Having been nominated in no less than six categories in the Plastics Industry Awards 2018, Plastek UK was delighted to win two out of six categories.

Luke Peters, Junior Maintenance Engineer was thrilled to scoop the prestigious title of ‘Apprentice of the Year’. Whilst Derek Bennett, Maintenance Engineer was overwhelmed to be named ‘Unsung Hero’ for 2018.

Both Derek & Luke took to the stage to collect their awards in front of over 800 of their Plastics Industry colleagues at a Big Band themed evening, hosted by Strictly Come Dancing Star – Brendan Cole, at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane. Now in their 18th year, the Plastics Industry Awards aim to reward innovation and exceptional performance throughout the world of polymer manufacturing, and have become a highlight of the industry’s calendar.

Both Derek & Luke show great dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to their roles on a daily basis, and what a better way for them to be recognised for their outstanding efforts and achievements.

“For Luke & Derek to receive this recognition at such a prestigious awards ceremony is overwhelming,” said Plastek Europe Vice President Mick Shaw, “and reflects a tremendous amount of hard work and real commitment to their roles at Plastek UK.”
