Plastek UK has been announced as finalists in the Processor of the Year, Best Business Initiative, Apprentice of the year categories for this year’s Plastics Industry Awards (PIAs).

Plastek has also been shortlisted together with UPM Conveyors for the Best Partnership Award in the Ancillary Machinery Category. The 2014 glittering black-tie event takes place on Friday, 24 October at the London Hilton on Park Lane and will be hosted by comedian and TV presenter Al Murray, aka ‘The Pub Landlord’.

With 16 categories covering materials usage, product design, manufacturing, training and environmental performance, the PIAs highlight and recognise the best that the innovative UK plastics industry has to offer. This year’s event is set to attract around 800 guests including supplier companies, OEM manufacturers, plastics processors, consultants, and designers.

This year’s judging panel included Dr Robin Kent, MD, Tangram Technology; Mercia Gick; Dr George Kellie, Chairman, KellieSolutions™; Julia Moore, Chief Executive, GTMA; Professor Gordon Smith, Head of the Polymer and Composites Materials Group, University of Warwick; Les Wynn, Manager of Experience Design and Covers Engineering, HCL Technologies Ltd.; John Whitehead, ex-Editor, PRW; Dr Peter Cox, Consultant, and Graeme Paterson, Director, Brightworks.
