Plastek UK has invested in a new manufacturing cell to double its capacity in order to meet the needs of a major customer.
An important feature of Plastek’s latest expansion of its Nottinghamshire plant has been the automation of product handling.
The extension to the system also features an HMI touch screen control unit. This allows components from eight injection moulding machines to be transferred to any of the fully automatic assembly and packaging machines, without any manual involvement.
Reject belt conveyors operate via the machine SPC control to ensure only quality-compliant product is then transported, via swan neck belt conveyors, to high level conveyors, thus minimising the floor area occupied. Product then passes through a fire wall to assembly or filling lines.
