Plastek has been working with major global brands to reduce costs and improve environmental performance.

The latest chemical foaming technology has been deployed by Plastek in a joint project with a key customer to reduce the cost and environmental impact of deodorant stick packaging.

The process uses chemical foaming agents to produce tiny air bubbles within the plastic packaging without altering its function or appearance and this successful project was the first of its kind within the FMCG sector.

Besides delivering a competitive advantage to the customer by reducing packaging weight by 3-10% over a range of packs, the project will go on to remove 1000 tons of polymer from the waste stream and cut carbon emissions by a further 3000 tons.

A representative from the client company said, “This pioneering innovation proves Plastek’s capabilities to deliver technically challenging initiatives and helps to secure a long term relationship with our brands.”
