TOTAL VERSATILITY – Plastek Invests to Increase Capacity Plastek UK(Europe) focus on the design, manufacture and supply of packaging solutions for the personal care; cosmetics; pharmaceutical and food markets from their 180,000 square feet fully climatised factory based in Mansfield Nottinghamshire with a range of injection; and injection blow machines and have invested in a new manufacturing cell to double their capacity for a major customer. Plastek has worked with UPM Conveyors for automation of their product handling. The extension to the system means total versatility via an HMI touch screen control unit. This has allowed for the components from 8 injection moulding machines to be transferred to any of the fully automatic assembly and packaging machines without any manual involvement. Under press reversing reject belt conveyors operate via the machine SPC control to ensure only good product is transported via swan neck belt conveyors to high level conveyors to minimise floor area occupied then through a fire wall to assembly/filling lines with over capacity storage facility subject to high level detectors. Mick Shaw, General Manager of Plastek UK, praised UPM for completing the project on time without disrupting production. |
